Malene Kjeldsted, Jr. Construction Manager

"It was not at all the plan that I would end up in the middle of the construction industry."

That's how 34-year-old Malene Kjeldsted puts it; she works day to day as a construction manager at our partner Digital Realty. When she started at MI Support just a year and a half ago, it was not on the cards that she would go out and work as a consultant on a construction project.

"I had held administrative positions in the travel industry before I started at MI Support's head office last year. Here I became part of the administration, where I was responsible for making reports, sales and meeting overviews, and generally tying the threads together from week to week," she explains.

The start of an unexpected journey

When MI Support's sales department repeatedly received enquiries for administrative consultants for projects, it gradually caught Malene's interest.

"In the beginning it just involved a series of data-entry tasks, so I navigated between being out on the project and in at head office. Before I knew it, I was on the project every day of the week."

Malene's first project became a large new data centre, where she worked as a project assistant. After that she moved up to project manager on the construction of a new guardhouse/reception, where she today is responsible for budget, schedule, coordination and reporting.

Security in the uncertain

The time in MI Support's administration has given Malene good insight into the company's core values and business model.

"I know that the sales department always works purposefully so that my skills can be put into play – for example in connection with a project change, or when the current assignment ends. Naturally, I'm also involved in the process myself, so that together we can find exactly the right collaboration."

All in all, much suggests that the work as a consultant and the somewhat unpredictable everyday life suit Malene well. At the same time, she sees great opportunities for development in the new industry she has ended up in:

"There's so much to learn and so many exciting tasks to be solved," she says. "And right now I'm really thriving working as a consultant!"
