Esther Ferrer Sanchez

36-year-old Esther originally trained as an architectural technologist in Spain, but today she applies her expertise as a Construction Manager at MI Support. Since she started back in 2021, Esther has held several different roles on a number of large, complex construction projects:

"I have worked with everything from work permits and safety to construction management, and right now my focus area is logistics," she says.

Esther's journey, both career-wise and geographically, has been driven by curiosity and a desire to grow.

"I previously studied in England as well, so my international background has given me experience with different cultures and ways of working. I use that a lot in my everyday work, where we collaborate with people of many different nationalities."

Today, Esther works with logistics on a large site, where she and her team ensure that deliveries and transport run safely and efficiently:

"In practice, that means I have to coordinate between many different parties and make sure the materials arrive properly and that the areas on the construction site are ready for work," she explains.

Although logistics requires thorough planning, it is not necessarily the days when everything goes according to plan that give Esther the most energy. Instead, she prefers the unforeseen events, where it is all about being ready to adapt:

"For example, there was a day this winter with heavy snowfall, where my closest colleague couldn't get through. I was therefore solely responsible for organising the tasks and keeping the site running. That was a real opportunity for me to show what I can do," she says.

For Esther, it is precisely in those situations, where quick action is needed and solutions must be found, that she feels the joy of working.

"That was a really good day at work!"

Even though Esther is motivated by unforeseen challenges, that doesn't mean she works best in chaos. On the contrary, structure is one of her greatest strengths:

"I'm quite organised and thrive best when I can put things into a system," she explains. "For example, I always make sure my inbox is tidy. I like creating structure and staying on top of the details, so I always know what needs to be done."

It is precisely Esther's ability to keep an overview and streamline her work that enables her to handle a day-to-day where plans can change constantly.

"On a large construction site, where many activities happen at the same time and new challenges can arise from one minute to the next, structure and overview are crucial for progress," she says.

Esther's team on the project means a lot to her, and she highlights that the many years of working together have created strong relationships:

"We've known each other for so long that it feels a bit like a small family out here," she says.

She also experiences a strong sense of community with her colleagues at MI Support:

"Even though we work on different projects, we regularly meet for lunch out here on the site or at MI Support's events. It's nice to hear what's happening elsewhere, and you build a large network across the board."

Even though Esther has already tried several different roles over the past five years at MI Support, she is not done developing. She hopes the coming years will bring new opportunities within construction management:

"To me, professional development is not necessarily about a specific title. It's about constantly learning new things, taking on new challenges and getting the opportunity to use my skills in different contexts. Over time, I would like to take on more responsibility and make a bigger difference through my work."

With more than 10 years in Denmark and several complex construction projects behind her, Esther continues her journey with the same curiosity and desire to grow that has characterised her path from the very beginning.
